It's official: I'm riding the Vancouver Island Grand Loop this summer.
August 20-27, 2016.
I'll be taking my 2013 Ural Patrol with lots of spare parts, extra gas, and way too much camping gear. The pace will be pretty comfortable with 4-5 hours of riding each day, and plenty of time to relax at the end of each day.
Rather than do this alone, consider this your open invitation to join me for the entire ride, or for part of the ride. If you're interested, get in touch with me and we'll figure things out. Cheers!
Here's the current itinerary (subject to change as more riders join):
Day 1 - Victoria to Lake Cowichan - 200km - 3.75hrs riding time
Accommodations: camping at Gordon Bay Provincial Park on Aug 20
Day 2 - Lake Cowichan to Mount Washington - 306km - 5hrs riding time
Accommodations: Mount Washington Alpine Resort on Aug 21
Day 3 - Mount Washington to Woss Lake Provincial Park - 250km - 4.5hrs riding time
Accommodations: back country camping at Woss Lake Provincial Park on Aug 22
Day 4 - Woss Lake Provincial Park to Port Hardy - 175km - 5hrs riding time (No San Josef Bay Today)
Accommodations: hostel in Port Hardy on Aug 23
Day 5 - Port Hardy to San Josef Bay to Port McNeill- 200km - 4.5hrs riding time
Accommodations: Camping at Alder Bay Resort on Aug 24
Day 6 - Port McNeill to Miracle Beach Provincial Park - 250km - 4.5hrs riding time
Accommodations: camping at Miracle Beach Provincial Park on Aug 25
Day 7 - Miracle Beach Provincial Park to Victoria - 300km - 5hrs riding time
Accommodations: The end; go home.
